Players of the Weeky

Posted Friday, September 26, 2008 by Max Mercy

OFFENSE: Tucker Brendle (OL), was a bit surprised that he didn't see his name in the game program, but made his presence felt anyway as he helped lead the Warrior offense in controlling the clock. Brendle & Co. helped open holes and kept the ball, as well as the clock, moving in the 3-0 win over cross-river rival Point Boro.

SPECIAL TEAMS: It's not often a special teams players gets the game ball, but thanks to punter John Otchy, the Panthers often found themselves in poor field position throughout the day. Octhy averaged over 38 yards per punt and was able to get a pressure-packed 45 yard kick off in the 4th quarter with his heels on the end line.

DEFENSE: Bryan Colligan (LB) was honored by the WOBM sports team as the Player of the Game. For most of the game, Bryan along with his teammates played assignment football, but it was in the second half, with Boro passing, that Bryan made a name for himself harassing Panther QB Shae O'Connor. Bryan finished with a sack and five pressures.
